New iPad 3 speed test video

The ‘new’ iPad…like the 4s…is a huge update in everything EXCEPT the design. Those that feel the upgrade to either the 4s or the ‘new’ iPad is minimalist are sadly mistaken. I’ve owned all iOS devices. Started with the first iPhone and we’ve (luckily) been able to update with each successive product. The 4s is only the same on the outside. Internally everything has changed (except the display). The speed, the memory, the cameras, wifi and HSPA radios, all updated. The new iPad is almost identical in appearance to its predecessor. However, as a 40 year old with perfect vision up until age 37 or so, I’ve since had to get prescription strength reading glasses. The iPad 2…while fast performing…lacked the clarity of the iPhone 4′s retina screen. I’ve switched all off my periodical subscriptions to iPad. Til the new one drows I’ve had to use my glasses to read my mags, forums, and books. With the ‘new iPad’..I can read (easily) without the aid of my glasses at default font size! This alone is worth the upgrade!!! Also, the additional RAM has made a significant difference in my daily RSS app of choice (Early Edition). It was the only ‘crash prone’ app (out of over 300 apps) on my iPad 2. This hasn’t been the case over the past 48 hours on the new tablet…and this is a really hard benchmark to measure. Multitasking and switching between apps seems significantly improved…As is the camera (regardless whether or not you choose to use). As far as the graphics chip…I think we have only begun to scratch the surface of its capabilities. (look at Barefeat’s gfx tests). While I do own Infinity blade II, I’m not a big fan (I prefer some of the retro RPGs like Dungeon Humter)…but the visual differences are stunning! The capabilities of this new graphics chipset are phenomenal…and the developer community is salivating over the possibilities.

It’s always surprising to me the ‘meh’ attitude of folks in the perceived incremental improvements on devices like the iPhone and iPad. These devices have already been invented. The WOW moment ended the second the original hit storeshelves. Moving forward, the ONLY options Apple has is to improve the ‘guts!’. They’ve already invented the product that the public loves. Now, ALL there is left are internal improvements. And this, again…IMVHO, is where Apple has knocked it out of the park with each iOS product it’s delivered. I can’t help but wonder that those of you that continue to slam Apple on the 4s and new iPad are ‘non-users’. Otherwise you’d have come to the same conclusion I have. They’re not incrementally better…but significantly better in key areas…the display on the new iPad alone is worth the price of admission…the cameras, LTE radio, BlueTooth upgrade, Double the RAM, and increased gfx performance are just icing on the cake.

Now…with a usable camera on the iPad, developers WILL come up with uses you and I haven’t even dreamt up yet! Just watch! And for those of you with an iPad 2 that aren’t considering the upgrade…stay AWAY from the new one! Once you see the display, you’ll not be able to resist…that’s a guarantee:)
